1. Send a free e-card to your Valentine.  No need to make the trip to your local greeting card store for this gift idea!

2. Send virtual roses.  You'll need some flowers to go with your card, right? If money is tight this year, do the next best thing and send your sweetie virtual flowers...

3. Cut and Paste.  You don't need to be artistic to create your own Valentine card. Gather old newspapers and magazines, then cut out words and phrases that can be combined to make a romantic, sexy, or humorous Valentine message. Paste your message on a big, red heart cut from construction paper.

4. Capture a Kiss.  For the ladies...put on your reddest lipstick, pucker up and kiss several a sheet of plain, white paper. Repeat until you get a good, "pouty" kiss, then personalize it with your Valentine message and signature!

5. Dedicate a Song.  Many radio stations allow listeners to call in and dedicate songs. Find a local radio station that does, then phone in your dedication; make sure your sweetie is listening!

6. Say "I Love You" in a Foreign Language.  Impress your love by telling them "I Love You" in a foreign language! Bonus points for learning and using more than one foreign language.

7. Be Direct.  The best Valentine you can give? Take your lover's hand, look her straight in the eye and say "I love you more than anything on this earth" -- and mean it!

8. Be a Slave to Love!  Give your sweetie a coupon for a free back rub or a free home-cooked dinner. Better yet, volunteer to be their "slave" for a day! Yes, you may have to take out the trash or fold laundry, but their gratitude will make it all worthwhile!

10. An Email Valentine with Clip Art.  Can your significant other view graphics in their email program? Find an appropriate image on the internet (search for "clip art"), create your romantic email message, and then attach the image before sending!

11. A Home Page Valentine.  You can also use the romantic clip art (see #10 above) to create a web page to declare your love! Most internet providers provide free space (2-5 MB) for your web pages; check to see if yours does.

12. An Evening of Romantic Music.  If your home computer has speakers, be sure to tune into the Love Song Radio! You may need to add a plug-in to your browser, but Resources to free plug-ins are provided as well. No need to select and change CD's, cassettes, vinyl records -- it's an uninterrupted evening of nothing' but love songs!

13. Buy a box of children's valentines and write a sweet nothing on each one. Every day, hide one in a special place that you know your love will find.

14. Buy 7 small valentine tokens or gifts. Wrap each of them separately along with a special little love note to go with each one about why you love them. Give one to your love every day leading up to the big day!

15. A great idea for long distance relationships, or if you don't live together, is to buy seven valentine cards (or love related cards) and mail them so the first one arrives seven days before Valentine's Day, the next arrives six days before, and so on.

16. Leave a few candy conversation hearts around the table with dinner or desert to remind your love about the upcoming event.

17. Drop hints all week about what you have in store - little gifts symbolizing what the surprise is. For extra fun, make it into a scavenger hunt.

18. Collect some memorabilia of your time together and give them to your love one at a time leading up to Valentine's Day, along with a note about why you thought that particular moment was special.
